Weird fractal.... Hard to name, yet very easy..... I couldn't help but think of the whole purgatory thing again, after mentioned a river in heaven to wash away sins. But I decided to stay a bit more vague. In general water restores things. After a large flood new fertile soilis deposited on the flood plain, allowing the vegetation to become even more lush. Also it washes away other things like pollution. However the same flood that brings life, also takes it away with all the damage it does to people's livelihoods. The Egyptians if I recall acknowledged the value of the flooding of the Nile. I suppose it is no mystery why in the story of Noah the world was purified by a flood. Water is just great. Sorry for all the religious references.... I'm not quite sure why I'm thinking about it...
This fractal is another splits elliptical fractal.... I have to admit... As beautiful as I think they are I would die to see some more variety.... It feel like I see the basic shapes and it's just the colour scheme that is different between them. That's not completely true... But I just hold them to higher quality standards than other types of fractals.
If the blue is not a river, then I say it is light from a super nova, filling the vaccum of space!
if you are bored on the "normal" elliptic splits you might try something with xaos or replacing the elliptic. [link] is done with julian for example. [link] is done with "different bluring" [link] is one with julian -> bipolar instead of cylinders [link] is one with cylinder splits in the cylinder...
i think these are enough examples of "different" ways of doing elliptic splits. sorry for only picking those from my own gallery... but my own gallery is the easiest to pick examples from since its the one i know best xD.
i still have to agree with michaelfaber though ^^ chapeau
Oh, those are some interesting ideas for sure I tried combining splits and Julians last night, but my results were..... Quite different Eitherway, I'm going to try these some more. Thanks for the ideas!
